It's always great when those inside the filmmaking biz get in touch to turn us on to some of the more interesting upcoming releases; so we were delighted when prolific producer Jonathan Sothcott (Dead Cert, The Asphyx remake) gave us a heads-up regarding the UK DVD release of Robert Pratten's indie body-horror Mindflesh.
Sothcott had this to say:
"Robert Pratten's Mindflesh is a film I dearly wish I'd produced - its an exceptionally original, striking movie in the Cronenberg style - gore, girls and endless psychological tricks. I was amazed it hadn't found a home on UK DVD and so introduced Robert to my friends at 4DigitalMedia, who released my first film Wishbaby. They now have it scheduled for an extras-packed DVD release later in the year when hopefully it can find the wide audience it richly deserves."
Adding, "Robert is an exceptionally intelligent, provocative film-maker and I really want to work with him. We're actively looking for a project at the minute. He cast Mindflesh really well and I think fans are going to love Carole Derrien as The Goddess."
Looking like the mutant child of David Cronenberg and Clive Barker, Mindflesh certainly has me interested – especially after seeing the stills which Jonathan also kindly provided!
