'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' Directors Introduce 'American Mary'

Posted: 12 Dec 2010 03:32 PM PST

Dead Hooker in a Trunk (a pretty popular micro indie)( directors Jen and Sylvia Soska are back with their second indie feature, American Mary, which recently launched an official Facebook that features the below trailer and art. "American Mary is the story of a medical student named Mary who is growing increasingly broke and disenchanted with medical school and the established doctors she once idolized. The allure of easy money sends a desperate Mary through the messy world of underground surgeries, which leaves more marks on her than the so-called freakish clientele."

'Glimmer' at This Gross Teaser Art

Posted: 10 Dec 2010 11:00 AM PST

Some new details and art have been released for George Bessudo (Farm House, Lake Dead) and Intandem Films' Glimmer, which will star Shawn Roberts (X-Men, Resident Evil, Edge of Darkness) and Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect, Road Trip, Crank, Mirrors) "When 16 year old Annie Tuttle takes a walk at her lake front home she spots a young girl standing on the ice covered lake. As Lucy falls through the ice Annie hurries to rescue her, and sees a figure at the center of the lake; the figure seems to shimmer and disappear before her eyes. Nine years later Annie is happily married to Jack Cole. Annie gets a letter which reads: Its going to kill you. Come alone. The letter leads her to the Granger Institute and Lucy Talbot - the girl from the lake. Lucy explains that the GLIMMER will never let her live. Outside, Annie meets up with Gabe, the local deputy and a former boyfriend. In Lucys room, Annie and Gabe discover two pictures and a page torn from a book dating back to 1698; in them, the figure of Eldridge Peck appears; a man executed for being a witch. Meanwhile, Annie has discovered a link between the Peck family and her husband Jack. Annie must race against time to save herself and her unborn child from the GLIMMER."

Insane Trailer for NSFW 'Taint'

Posted: 10 Dec 2010 10:27 AM PST

Directed by Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson, The Taint stars Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw, and Kenneth Hall. What you're about to see may, or may not shock you. Inside you'll find some awesomely gory photos, along with a very NSFW trailer. You can buy the DVD at the film's official website, which also has links to Twitter and Facebook pages. What do you think? "The Taint is an intellectual experience. It is a violent and misogynistic film about violence, misogyny, and entertainment. It will poison the minds of men and turns them into raging misogynists who want nothing more than to crush women's heads with rocks. It features sadistic violence, gratuitous sexual content, and scenes of spellbinding dramatic interest. It also contains more cock explosions than any other movie ever. Its the ultimate sexually-frustrated-male-nerd-emotional-masturbation-release film, done in the style of an 80s horror-comedy."

The Best Way to Deal With Your Fears: Eat Them

Posted: 10 Dec 2010 10:19 AM PST

The only way to stop the inner demons is by taking the pill. A short horror film from Israel has made its way online and features a truly bizarre scene where a creature and a man sit at a dinner table discussing the consequences of the man's actions. Directed by Elad Rath, explosions erupt outside their apartment, while the creature eats all sorts of disgusting insects preaching about needing to have balls in order to fear losing them. Weird stuff. Take a peak at Eaten inside; it's only 6 minutes long.

House of Fears (V)

Posted:

"This is another unworthy film that my curiosity fell victim to because of its fairly interesting plot and that ever-long hope that this I should know better horror film could actually turn out a fairly decent watch in the end. Unsurprisingly, I was wrong, and despite the film showing some potential to deliver some good scares, the entire watch was a waste of time." Score: 4 / 10

New Teaser for Trip Deep into 'The Tunnel'

Posted: 09 Dec 2010 09:59 AM PST

A new website has launched for Carlo Ledesma's indie The Tunnel that also features a brand new teaser, which can be viewed beyond the break. The plan for the movie is to get you guys to pay for it so they can give it away for free. That's pretty goddamn stupid. At least their poster and teaser are well made... "In 2007 the NSW government suddenly scrapped a plan to utilise the water in the disused underground train tunnels beneath Sydneys St James Train Station. In 2008, chasing rumours of a government coverup and urban legends surrounding the sudden backflip, investigative journalist Natasha Warner led a crew of four into the underground labyrinth. They went down into the tunnels looking for a story until the story found them. This is the film of their harrowing ordeal. With unprecedented access to the recently declassified tapes they shot in the claustrophobic subway tunnels, as well as a series of candid interviews with the survivors, we come face to face with the terrifying truth. The Tunnel also marks the first time that missing sound recordist, Jim Tangles Williams, speaks about his experience during those chilling hours… This never before seen footage takes us deep inside the tunnels bringing the darkness to life and capturing the raw fear that threatens to tear the crew apart, leaving each one of them fighting for their lives."

Blu-Ray Review: 'Cronos'

Posted: 09 Dec 2010 03:53 PM PST

Back in the early 90s, before Pans Labyrinth wowed audiences worldwide and the likes of cult comic heroes Blade and Hellboy were brought to the big screen, Guillermo del Toro was busy cutting his teeth on Cronos, the better of his two vampire films. Having only directed a few episodes of Hora Marcada - a Spanish version of The Twilight Zone - and some horror shorts of his own, his first feature-length film is a surprisingly good riff on a classic mythos, with quirky characters and a fantastical storyline, moving beyond the at-the-time (and now) glamorization of vampires.

'Chain Letter' Passed Onto DVD/Blu-ray February 1

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 12:49 PM PST

Electronic mail. Cell-phone texting. Unthinkable a generation ago, these technological marvels are considered by many as life-saving devices. But what if these contributions become an instrument of murder when your death is announced in the subject line? On February 1, Image Entertainment releases Chain Letter a story of a deadly communiqué carrying a message of murder, if the recipient dares to break the chain. Where the e in e-mail could mean execution, after a national theatrical release, Chain Letter will be available on DVD in separately-available rated and unrated versions for an SRP of $27.97, on Blu-ray™ for an SRP of $29.97 as well as digital download. The unrated version contains new footage not seen in the theatrical release.

The Eagles Are Coming! 'Birdemic: Shock & Terror' Gets Blu-ray/DVD Date!

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:00 AM PST

I still can't believe how many "best of the worst" lists this year failed to mention James Nguyen's horrible masterpiece Birdemic: Shock & Terror; it shows you how much they really know. Severin announced today that they'll be bringing the event to your own living room on February 22 on both DVD and Blu-ray. Specs have yet to be revealed but we're told there are going to be TONS, including an amazing behind-the-scenes feature chronicling the film's limited theatrical run. In the film a platoon of eagles & vultures attack the residence of a small town. Many people died. It's not known what caused the flying menace to attack. Two people managed to fight back, but will they survive BIRDEMIC? Why did the eagles and vultures attack?

UK Trailer for Japanese 'The Shock Labyrinth'

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 08:50 AM PST

Yet another crappy Japanese horror film is making its way to UK DVD on January 31 as they'll see the release of Takashi Shimizu's (Ju-On, Marebito) terrible, terrible The Shock Labyrinth 3D, which I beg you to avoid at all costs. Need a little evidence? Check out the UK trailer inside. The pic follows a group of teenagers dealing with the disappearance of one of them, Yuki, at an amusement park's ghost house. On a rainy day 10 years later, Yuki inexplicably returns. However, no sooner is she united with her former friends than she collapses, and the group rushes Yuki to a nearby hospital. But after checking in, they discover that things are not quite as they seem at the medical centre. As the night wears on, the group sinks deeper and deeper into the events from a decade ago that led to Yuki's disappearance.

A black laced hand prevents her from screaming. The wind lifts her dress and caresses her thighs. A razor blade brushes her skin, where will this chaotic and carnivorous journey leave her?

British Vamp Flick 'Blood + Roses' Now on VOD

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:13 AM PST

Blood + Roses, the new British vampire flick from Simon Aitken and Independent Runnings, is now available to rent online. "The story is about Martin (Kane John Scott) and his wife Jane (Marysia Kay) are taking some time off, trying to put the past behind them. Jane attracts the attentions of another man, Seth (Benjamin Green), a vampire who sees something that he wants in Jane. Jane wants it too, but be careful what you wish for...

Blu-Ray Review: 'Dear Mr. Gacy'

Posted: 06 Dec 2010 06:31 PM PST

To give screenwriter Kellie Madison credit, she seemingly doesnt make up or even slightly embellish any of the facts in Dear Mr. Gacy, which is based on the memoir The Last Victim, written by Jason Moss. If she did, Moss character might have snapped and killed someone, or Gacy would have gotten out of prison and killed some folks, or any of the usual things one does when trying to make a more exciting movie based on a true story. But is the movie still worth a watch? Read on to find out.
