On September 28, 2010, the original 1933 RKO classic King Kong makes its long awaited debut on Blu-ray Disc™. Presented by Warner Home Video, the newly remastered King Kong features extensive bonus content, including a collectible Blu-ray Book written by renowned film historian Rudy Behlmer; a feature length documentary on Kong creator Merian C. Cooper, directed by acclaimed filmmakers Kevin Brownlow and Christopher Bird; commentary by Ray Harryhausen and Ken Ralston with Merian C. Calling it like I see it, this has to be one of the weakest release weeks in quite some time. Theres simply not much going on. Of course, after being spoiled with a ton of great titles last week, we were destined for a letdown. If youre looking for something new this week, Netflix Instant has released about 40 horror films since the beginning of September, which includes quite a few excellent choices.

Alejandro Jodorowsky's 'Santa Sangre' Gets UNCUT Blu-ray Release

Severin Films today announced the 1/25/2011 release of Alejandro Jodorowskys internationally acclaimed Santa Sangre. The 1989 production, rarely seen since its U.S. theatrical release, comes to Blu-ray and DVD featuring a restored print of the films European version as well as over 5 hours of Bonus Material. In addition, Jodorowsky will by honored by The Museum Of Art & Design with his first-ever American retrospective. The series, called Blood into Gold: the Cinematic Alchemy of Alejandro Jodorowsky, runs from September 23rd thru October 8th and will feature the 81-year-old Chilean-born filmmaker/playwright/graphic artist/shaman in attendance to conduct a rare master class on his films and philosophy.
