Terrance Zdunich's portrait of a dysfunctional American family in the 90's, The Molting, has just dropped Chapter 4 entitled "Lethal Raids" on an unassuming public. In addition, the issue provides details on an art contest the writer/illustrator/performer has come up with for fans of the comic.
First off, here's a synopsis of "Lethal Raids":
Gibraltar, 45,000 years ago: The family of Man pits thugs against thinkers. Antagonists against artists. Brawn against brains.
Anaheim, CA, 1990's: The Pryzkind family continues the age-old battle.
As for the "Leave Yer Mark" art contest, here's the skinny:
Do you like taking pictures of graffiti-scarred bike paths and rusty shopping carts but can't find anyone to share your work with? Having trouble finding the right audience for your sketches of little girls with guns? Are you the only one who seems to enjoy your sculpted cucaracha? Can't find anyone who loves your angel-baby tattoos and vato loco costumes as much as you do?
Well, themoltingcomic.com has the solution for you! The Molting's artists, Terrance Zdunich, Brian Johnson, and Oceano Ransford, want to see your Molting-inspired artwork! They will select a winning piece to be printed in the fifth issue of The Molting. Several runners-up will also be featured on themoltingcomic.com.
So if you think you have what it takes to capture the commonplace, yet horrific plight of The Molting's Pryzkind family, then get your tools of the trade ready. Submissions open July 1, 2010, on the "Contest" page of themoltingcomic.com.
Zdunich is self-distributing The Molting's 12-chapter series and plans to take "Guilty Susie" on tour so that he can meet fans and give them a taste of the new world he created face to face. Currently issues are on sale exclusively via TerranceZdunich.com and The Molting's official site.
