Indie Short 'The Boogeyman' Based on Stephen King Story Posted: 09 Aug 2010 10:42 AM PDT Based on the short story by Stephen King, The Boogeyman is an ambitious short film directed by Irish film-maker Gerard Lough and starring Simon Fogarty and Michael Parle. The film has intricate visual effects that are CGI as well as in camera. It also feature excellent make up effects by one of the best artists in Ireland - Julie Ann Ryan. This combined with a faithful adaption of King's much loved source material, strong performance, stunning visuals and a creepy electronic score will make for a very memorable 30 minute movie which will be shown at film festival all over the world. "When Andrew Billings (Simon Fogarty) goes to see a psychologist to explain how an evil creature that lives in his closet is responsible for the deaths of his three children he is met with disbelief. But as the story progresses, both Dr. Harper (Michael Parle) and the audience will start to consider the possibility that this "boogeyman" might be real after all." Check it out inside. |
B-Indie Stars Crack Knuckles for 'Dog Fight' Posted: 09 Aug 2010 10:39 AM PDT Like Fight Club? We've got the first details on Dog Fight, an ensemble cast driven horror film which also combines elements of action, crime drama, and torture films into a single package in a storyline "revolving around an underground fighting ring whose competitors are made up of women who have been kidnapped and "broken" - essentially being turned into rabid dogs psychologically." Written by Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska, the twin team behind the buzzed about film Dead Hooker in a Trunk, which Eli Roth has notoriously endorsed as saying, and I quote, "They aim to fuck you up", it is being directed by Sean-Michael Argo, whose feature "Fable: Teeth of Beasts" recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is being produced by Tara Cardinal, who recently wrapped the action/fantasy epic "Legend of the Red Reaper" and Devanny Pinn, who aside from appearances in Piranha 3-D and the upcoming sci-fi thriller "15 Till Midnight", recently wrapped the buzzed about revenge film "Song of the Shattered". Tara and Devanny will also star in the film, whose cast will be rounded out by such "B" horror figures as Brandon Slagle (15 Till Midnight, Duplicity, Kinky Killers), Elske McCain (Jessika Rabid, Gimme Skelter), Shannon Lark (Walking Distance), Rachel Grubb (Terror Overload, The Horror Vault Vol. 1), Deneen Melody (Slices of Life, Song of the Shattered), Tara Alexis (Fable: Teeth of Beasts, Red Scream Nosferatu). Also starring are Bill Oberst Jr. (Nude Nuns With Big Guns, Ripped Memories), Jose Rosete (The Rogue, Three Kings), Elisabeth Fies, Julia Boyd, Keith Kraft, Tawny Amber Young, Barry Ratcliffe, and many more TBA. Filming will begin in the Los Angeles area during September and continue throughout the month for a Spring 2011 premiere. Shannon Lark |
WETA Gets Behind WWII Horror 'The Devil's Rock' Posted: 09 Aug 2010 10:36 AM PDT Island Bay Studios announced that short film director Paul Campion is hard at work building sets for his first feature-length project, The Devil's Rock, a film described as "WW2-German-bunker-overrun-by-occult-demon-mayhem." Richards vision is to capture the oppressive damp concrete claustrophobia of an underground base and introduce elements of unimaginable unstoppable malignant horror which see the bases occupants slowly picked off and terrorized. Written by Paul Finch, Paul Campion and Brett Ihaka, The Devil's Rock is award-winning short film director Paul Campion's debut feature film. His short films "Night of the Hell Hamsters" and "Eel Girl" have screened at every major genre film festival worldwide. "The film is set in the Channel Islands on the eve of D-Day. Two Kiwi commandos, sent to destroy German gun emplacements to distract Hitler's forces away from Normandy, discover a Nazi occult plot to unleash demonic forces to win the war."
