Some new details and art have been released for George Bessudo (Farm House, Lake Dead) and Intandem Films' Glimmer, which will star Shawn Roberts (X-Men, Resident Evil, Edge of Darkness) and Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect, Road Trip, Crank, Mirrors) "When 16 year old Annie Tuttle takes a walk at her lake front home she spots a young girl standing on the ice covered lake. As Lucy falls through the ice Annie hurries to rescue her, and sees a figure at the center of the lake; the figure seems to shimmer and disappear before her eyes. Nine years later Annie is happily married to Jack Cole. Annie gets a letter which reads: Its going to kill you. Come alone. The letter leads her to the Granger Institute and Lucy Talbot - the girl from the lake. Lucy explains that the GLIMMER will never let her live. Outside, Annie meets up with Gabe, the local deputy and a former boyfriend. In Lucys room, Annie and Gabe discover two pictures and a page torn from a book dating back to 1698; in them, the figure of Eldridge Peck appears; a man executed for being a witch. Meanwhile, Annie has discovered a link between the Peck family and her husband Jack. Annie must race against time to save herself and her unborn child from the GLIMMER."

A short horror film from Israel has made its way online and features a truly bizarre scene where a creature and a man sit at a dinner table discussing the consequences of the man's actions. Directed by Elad Rath, explosions erupt outside their apartment, while the creature eats all sorts of disgusting insects preaching about needing to have balls in order to fear losing them. "This is another unworthy film that my curiosity fell victim to because of its fairly interesting plot and that ever-long hope that this I should know better horror film could actually turn out a fairly decent watch in the end. A new website has launched for Carlo Ledesma's indie The Tunnel that also features a brand new teaser, which can be viewed beyond the break. The plan for the movie is to get you guys to pay for it so they can give it away for free. That's pretty goddamn stupid. At least their poster and teaser are well made... "In 2007 the NSW government suddenly scrapped a plan to utilise the water in the disused underground train tunnels beneath Sydneys St James Train Station. In 2008, chasing rumours of a government coverup and urban legends surrounding the sudden backflip, investigative journalist Natasha Warner led a crew of four into the underground labyrinth. They went down into the tunnels looking for a story until the story found them. This is the film of their harrowing ordeal. Back in the early 90s, before Pans Labyrinth wowed audiences worldwide and the likes of cult comic heroes Blade and Hellboy were brought to the big screen, Guillermo del Toro was busy cutting his teeth on Cronos, the better of his two vampire films. Having only directed a few episodes of Hora Marcada - a Spanish version of The Twilight Zone - and some horror shorts of his own, his first feature-length film is a surprisingly good riff on a classic mythos, with quirky characters and a fantastical storyline, moving beyond the at-the-time (and now) glamorization of vampires.

I still can't believe how many "best of the worst" lists this year failed to mention James Nguyen's horrible masterpiece Birdemic: Shock & Terror; it shows you how much they really know. Severin announced today that they'll be bringing the event to your own living room on February 22 on both DVD and Blu-ray. Specs have yet to be revealed but we're told there are going to be TONS, including an amazing behind-the-scenes feature chronicling the film's limited theatrical run. In the film a platoon of eagles & vultures attack the residence of a small town. Many people died. It's not known what caused the flying menace to attack. Two people managed to fight back, but will they survive BIRDEMIC? Why did the eagles and vultures attack?

Yet another crappy Japanese horror film is making its way to UK DVD on January 31 as they'll see the release of Takashi Shimizu's (Ju-On, Marebito) terrible, terrible The Shock Labyrinth 3D, which I beg you to avoid at all costs. Need a little evidence? Check out the UK trailer inside. The pic follows a group of teenagers dealing with the disappearance of one of them, Yuki, at an amusement park's ghost house. On a rainy day 10 years later, Yuki inexplicably returns. However, no sooner is she united with her former friends than she collapses, and the group rushes Yuki to a nearby hospital. But after checking in, they discover that things are not quite as they seem at the medical centre. As the night wears on, the group sinks deeper and deeper into the events from a decade ago that led to Yuki's disappearance.

Amazon has announced a March 8, 2011 date the first season of AMC's The Walking Dead, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray from Anchor Bay Entertainment. If she did, Moss character might have snapped and killed someone, or Gacy would have gotten out of prison and killed some folks, or any of the usual things one does when trying to make a more exciting movie based on a true story. While a theatrically date was teased for spring '11, Image Entertainment has announced a March 29 Blu-ray/DVD date for the Antti Jokinen-directed thriller, The Resident, the latest Hammer Films production starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Christopher Lee, and Lee Pace. A small theatrical run and VOD launch is also planned, still. After separating from her husband beautiful young Doctor Juliet (Swank) begins a new life in Brooklyn. Her stunning, spacious loft apartment seems too good to be true and when mysterious occurrences lead her to believe shes not alone Juliet discovers the unthinkableher landlord is a stalker.

Over the past few decades we've been more than spoiled with our Christmas/holiday-themed horror. We've had Christmas Evil, the classic franchise Silent Night, Deadly Night, and have even had such classics as Gremlins, Child's Play and Black Christmas bring the holiday cheer. Now it's time for a killer Hanukkah as Sick Girl director Eben McGarr announced back in June his own holiday horror film that will bring eight days of terror. Today we got our hands on the third teaser poster. Shooting is schedule to begin next month.

WWE Wrestler Goldust Becomes 'The Fire Witch'

There's nothing that seems more bizarre to me than wrestlers acting, but then I remember that wrestling IS acting - and that Jesse "The Body" Ventura was super-f*cking-awesome in Predator. Still, I can't get behind the fact that the silly Goldust (Dustin Runnels) will be getting behind the camera for the cheesy sounding The Fire Witch. "Next thanksgiving I will be shooting my first movie....the fire witch...that I will be directing and producing...and will be in it," he writes on his Twitter page. "Just in the starting stages.....but will let you know more when more is known. It won't be a wrestling movie....it is a horror film. It will be a low budget film and my very first.....lots of work ahead." The only passable WWE movie in recent memory is See No Evil. Does Goldust know "scary"? Based on the following picture, I'd have to say "yes". LOL.

When it was announced, Harpoon: Whale Watching Massacre was oddly described as a cross between Blair Witch Project, Evil Dead, and, obviously, Texas Chain Saw Massacre. And now that I've seen it, I get the Chain Saw comparison, but I dont have a damn clue where those others came from. Theres nothing supernatural about it, it feels like a real production (as opposed to those films do-it-yourself charms), and, well, its about people getting killed on a boat. How do those woods-set low budget (and, not for nothing, superior) films even find their way into the conversation?

Another film getting a UK release before here in the States (there's a reason; it's terrible) is TakashiShimizu's The Shock Labyrinth, which Chelsea Films has announced for the 31st of January 2011, priced at around £14.99. The release will include both the 2D and 3D versions of the film, along with two pairs of 3D glasses. Shimizu is the Japanese director behind The Grudge films. The horror-thriller follows a group of teenagers dealing with the sudden return of a friend who went missing a decade ago. When the friend falls ill, they take her to a hospital but end up trapped in a labyrinthine haunted house.

Giallo-esque 'Amer' Gets UK DVD/Blu-ray Release

While we wait for the US home video date, Anchor Bay Entertainment UK has announced the DVD and Blu-ray release of the Giallo-inspired Amer for the 31st of January 2011, priced at around £15.99 and £19.99 respectively. Eclipse will be considered by many people to be the best of the Twilight series so far, and its easy to see why. It still features the same uneven performances and groan-worthy screenwriting that made the other entries unintentionally humorous, but this time around, the film seems to be at peace with what it is: a soap-opera. No longer is the franchise tussling with its identity; its comprised of minimal action, minimal plot, and people talking to each other about the same things over and over again, while being especially dramatic about EVERYTHING. And for what it is, Id be lying if I said it was the worst thing ever, but its still not good.

UK Thriller 'F" Gets DVD/Blu-ray Release

Optimum Home Entertainment has announced the release of F in the UK for the 10th of January 2011, priced at around £15.99 and £19.99 respectively. DVD release contains: 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Audio, Trailer, Making of F, Interview with Roxanne McKee and an Audio commentary. Blu-ray release contains 1.78:1 Widescreen Transfer (1080p), DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Trailer, Making of F, Interview with Roxanne McKee and an Audio commentary. The pic follows a group of teachers who must defend themselves from a gang of murderous kids when their school comes under siege after hours.

A1 Media Distribution released the below trailer for Anthony Fankhauser's Shadow People, which stars the Breakfast Club's Judd Nelson, Danielle De Luca and Christian Grantt. The film looks terrible and rocks the hilarious tagline: "A Shadow Monster kills the townspeople." Oh do they now? "Sylvain, an engineer come vigilante inventor, has constructed a device. It is close to functional, but something isn't right. His wife, Mary Anne, is running out of patience. She loathes the woods in which they live and yearns for a return to the city. Problems arise when their already tense situation is exasperated by the appearance of shadow beings, which torment them during the night. Sylvain slowly comes to realize that this is not a localized event and some greater scheme might be at work. From the meth producing hillbillies on the mountain top to the corrupt lawman, Sheriff Donnelly, no one can escape the reach of the shadow people. Sylvain starts to suspect his device has something to do with it, but cannot bring himself to destroy the machine he has worked so hard to create..."

Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher's horrible French zombie flick The Horde will arrive on DVD December 21 from IFC. The end of the world battle between gangsters, cops and zombies takes place north of Paris. In order to avenge the murder of one of their own by a group of ruthless gangsters, corrupt cops four go on a rampage in a condemned building serving as the mobster's hideout. Now trapped, the officers are about to be executed when the unimaginable occurs: hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures invade the building, savagely attacking everyone. Unexpected alliances are made when their lives are threatened by the unthinkable.

Magnolia Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD ($26.98), 2-disc DVD ($29.98), and Blu-ray ($29.98) releases of Monsters for February 1st. DVD Active reports that the extras on the 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray releases will include making of featurettes ("Production on Set", "Editing", "Visual Effects", "HDNet: A Look at Monsters"), deleted and extended scenes, extended interviews, a Comic Con NYC with Gareth Edwards feature, a "Factory Farmed" short film with intro from Gareth Edwards, and a digital copy of the film.

Ghost House Underground: 'Stag Night' and 'Psych: 9' in February

Bad sign for Ghost House Underground? The DVD label has only announced two films for their 2011 line-up, both Stag Night and Psych:9. Stag Night arrives on February 15 on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, Digital Download and On Demand. When a group of friends head to the city for a bachelor party, they stall in an abandoned subway station. The group soon finds themselves the target of a gruesome manhunt when a secret gang of cannibal dwellers living in the tunnels discovers them. The Stag Night DVD and Blu-ray also contain a "making of" featurette." Psych:9 arrives on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, Digital Download and On Demand on February 22. Cary Elwes (Saw) and Sara Foster (TV's "90210") star as two strangers connected in a recently closed down hospital. A young unstable woman (Foster) who works the nightshift experiences a chain of events that lead her to believe that the hospital is connected to a string of murders. To reveal the truth, she must first confront her own disturbed past. The DVD and Blu-ray will contain a production diary with the director, plus deleted scenes and outtakes.

'Embodiment of Evil' Gets Blu-ray Release

It has been thirty years, but Coffin Joe is back on the prowl, this time in high-definition this February. Synapse Films has announced the insane Embodiment of Evil for Blu-ray on February 8. The film is directed by and stars Portuguese filmmaker José Mojica Marins and is the third film in the 'Coffin Joe' trilogy, following At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (1964) and This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (1967). The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Featurette: Making of Embodiment of Evil, Footage from the Fantasia Film Festival premiere, and the original theatrical trailer. The release also will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

On DVD December 28 from MPI is A.D. Calvo's newly titled The Haunting of Amelia (aka The Other Side of the Tracks). Starring Chad Lindberg, Brendan Fehr, Tania Raymonde, Natassia Malthe and Beatrice Rosen, ten years after a tragic train accident killed his girlfriend, Josh finds himself haunted by disturbing visions from somewhere between the world of the living and the dead-haunting memories that keep him from moving on. His buddy, Rusty back in town for their high school reunion, tries to wake Josh from his painful past, but a mysterious young waitress offers a seductive alternative.

Anchor Bay Announces 'Let Me In' DVD/Blu-ray Release

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.99) releases of Let Me In for February 1st. DVD Active reports extras will include an audio commentary with director Matt Reeves, featurettes ("From The Inside: A Look at the Making of Let Me In", "The Art of Special Effects"), unrated deleted scenes, a Car Crash Sequence Step-by-Step, trailers, and a poster gallery. The Blu-ray release will also include a Dissecting Let Me In feature, and a digital copy of the film.

Available on DVD January 11, 2011 from MTI Home Video is Legion: Final Exorcism (sigh). Starring David Heavener, Roddy Piper (They Live) and Ariel Teal Toombs, the film was written, directed and produced by David Heavener follows Michael San Chica (Heavener) as an ex-priest. He is also an investigator documenting true events of demonic possession. When Michael comes to the rescue of the newly possessed Tatiana McMurter (Toombs), daughter of a Baptist minister, he discovers that he has encountered this demon before... A demon he vowed to track down and send back to hell. Because this time it's not business... it's personal. DVD features include: 16:9 widescreen format, 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound, closed captioned, behind-the-scenes, interactive menus, scene selection, trailers, and optional Spanish subtitles.
